Bulgaria Travel Guide - Sofia, Bulgaria Hotels

So you've decided to visit Bulgaria, terrific. First thing that comes to the mind is: where should I stay?

Such a question requires from you a budget estimation as you can spend from a few Euros per day in a hostel, to a couple hundred Euros in luxurious five-star hotel Suites. So let us try to give you an insight into some of the hotels and hostels most frequented by tourists and visitors in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia.

Sofia the capital has a wide variety of 5-stars hotels. One of the major ones is not other than the Hilton. This famous hotel is at the center of the capital and gives an outlook into the beautiful mountains. It is very close to the airport (10 to 20 minutes by car), and is within walking distance of major Sofia entertainment and shopping places. It has around 250 top-noche rooms equipped with air conditioning, internet, alarm, safe, cable and satellite TV, mini bar, ironing equipment and what not. Prices range between 90 to 200 euros per night per person (double and single rooms available).

Next is the Kempinski Zografski 5-stars hotel with its whopping 240+ rooms. This one is also considered one of the most luxurious hotels in Sofia. It has whatever a short-stay requires from central AC and heating, internet connectivity, cable TV, direct phone, pools, beauty salons, bars, sports club and other. Its per-night fees range between 70 euros per person per night in a double room to 125 euros for the single one.

One last 5-stars Sofia hotel we thought of mentioning is the Radisson Sas. What makes this hotel a good place for the business man as well as for the tourist is that it is very close to most governmental buildings in Sofia, in addition to being within walking range of tourist attractions, shopping centers and coffee shops. Facing the Bulgarian parliament, this 150-rooms hotel is a choice for many visitors. Prices per person per night start at 90 euros (double) up to ~200 euros (single deluxe).

If you're looking for a cheaper hotel but still a highly rated one, we recommend the Ambassador Sofia 4-stars hotel. It is relatively close to the center of the capital (around 5 km) and within short distance from the airport (around 10 kms). It has a small but yet very comfortable number of rooms (60) mostly being double rooms (single available upon request). Prices range between 35 euros per night per person up to 70 euros. The other good thing about the Ambassador is that it offers interesting discounts if you're staying for the weekend or for a longer visit.
Another same-rating, almost same priced hotel would be the Princess Sofia hotel: 4-stars, walking distance from the capital's center, close to the railway station but with a much bigger capacity (600+ rooms and suites). Prices range between 40 and 60 euros per person per night, same discount criteria as the Ambassador hotel.
