Bulgaria Travel Guide - Golden Sands Resort, Black Sea

Golden Sands is what comes to your mind when you first mention Bulgaria and Bulgarian attractions in particular. Golden sands is a resort town built in the late 1950s, and is located on the Black Sea coast north of Bulgaria and is part of the Varna municipality (17 km away from its downtown).

The name of this place comes from a popular legend, which says that a group of pirates have stolen gold that was buried in that area, and that to take revenge, nature has transformed this huge amount of gold into sand of golden color. Cute eh?

So what makes this resort one of the finest places to visit? First of all, as mentioned, its wonderful eye-catching sand color, it being the largest resort on the Black Sea and the very clean blue gradient sea. The golden sands got very nice woods and hills, lovely water springs and a 'moderate to warm' summer temperature (around 30 degrees Celsius). Getting there is easy, be it by plane through its municipality's (Varna) international airport and/or the many bus and taxi lines between downtown Varna and the beach resort (takes a maximum of 30 minutes).

The Golden Sands has many villas and chalets for rent, so you don't need to worry about accommodations. Multiple spas and sport centers are within walking distance of each others, making your stay as pleasant as possible. Children can have lots of fun due to the multiple play grounds and greeneries. All this has entitled the Golden Sands to receive the Blue Flag ecological award.
